Rudder

In most cases, the Rudder agent is installed in a Cloud or virtualized environment. In this context, the precise hardware inventory is often irrelevant, and dynamic groups all use the same 10-15 inventory properties (approximately the sys CFEngine variales content / Rudder iventory variables).

In this context, the usefulness of the complete inventory engine (FusionInventory) might be worth its weight and complexity (perl dependency, sometimes embedded, slow to run, etc.) We might be able to run with a more minimal inventory process, still generating a compatible inventory in the Fusion Inventory XML format.
