Enhancement #2677
closedWhen I enter the "Create a new item" popup to create a group the default field should be Name
Added by Jonathan CLARKE over 12 years ago. Updated about 1 year ago.
Description
When I click "Create a new item" in the Groups screen, a popup appears. The first field chooses between Group and Category, which defaults to Group. It would be good if the active field was automatically "Name", so that I could quickly create a new group without having to change focus manually.

Jean, why is this ticket in Discussion status, but with no discussion? Is there a problem?

I couldn't continue to work on the ticket, I had to work on another one, so I change his status to 'In progress' to 'Discussion'.
Should I keep the ticket's status on 'In progress' even if I'm not working on it?

Jean, the status of the ticket depends on what you are doing. If you are not working on it, you should revert to Qualified.
I'm taking over this bug

I couldn't find a way to do it properly, the conjonction of radio button and popup is a mess.
Still, I corrected the tabindex so that tabing will properly go to the name (on my system it wasn't)
I'm not sure it's that critical for this beta

Actually, it should not be reverted to Qualified, but to "To be started".
"Qualified" means "we've estimated the time to do this ticket, but don't want to start it yet", and "To be started" means "it needs doing!".
"Discussion" means "someone needs to look at this and help me", but of course should have at least one question so that people can actually help you :)

The workflow doesn't allow for reverting to "to be started", hence my remark :p

Only 3 status was available to me : "Discussion", "In progress" and "Technical Review". That's why I reverted it to "Discussion".

So the workflow needs fixing - complain to the guy in charge of it, but please don't use the wrong statuses without trying to fix the underlying problem, that's not a healthy approach.

- Target version changed from 2.4.0~beta3 to 2.4.0~beta4
There is no commit and I don't know the advancement of this issue.
This is not a blocking issue so I changed it to the next run.

This is an annoying bug. Arthur, could you look into it to see if you can make this work?

it seems to be a really complicated problem, involving multi threadings !

- Status changed from Discussion to New
- Assignee deleted (
Arthur ANGLADE) - Target version changed from 2.4.0~beta5 to Ideas (not version specific)
After three developers have broken their teeth on this, we're going to discard this for now. An upcoming UI change is planned so that creating Groups and Categories will be done via 2 separate popups, so the first field would be "Name" then anyway.
Thanks for trying, everyone.
