There is errors with the scripting engine if one uses IBM JDK engine.
Errors looks like missing security exception:
java.lang.Exception: 'Failure(Error when evaluating value ''thestring'.substring(0,3)': access denied to: ("java.lang.RuntimePermission" "accessClassInPackage.com.sun.script.javascript"),Full(java.lang.SecurityException: access denied to: ("java.lang.RuntimePermission" "accessClassInPackage.com.sun.script.javascript")),Empty)' is not equal to 'Full(the)'
