Question #14263
closed
way os version is reported has changed
Added by Tobias Ell almost 6 years ago.
Updated almost 6 years ago.
Description
Hello,
I am using rudder Server 5.0.5 with agents 5.0.4 and 5.0.5.
I have noticed that the way the os version is determined has changed.
For centOS 7 the version is simply reported as "7 (Core)".
This is the value for VERSION in /etc/os-release.
OS Version used to be e.g. "7.4.1708" which is probably taken from /etc/centos-release
and still true for centOS 6.
Is this "works as designed" or a bug?
- Related to Bug #14200: RHEL 7.6 appears as "Other Linux" added
- Category set to Agent
- Target version set to 5.0.6
this was introduced in #13964 (in rudder 5.0.4) - this is not an intended behaviour as it breaks existing groups
we are working on a fix
thank you - I seem to have missed the original ticket when searching for the problem
- Target version changed from 5.0.6 to 5.0.7
- Status changed from New to Discussion
Hello Tobias !
We fixed bug #14200 in Rudder 5.0.6 which should fix your issue here.
Does uprading your agents to 5.0.6 and running the inventory (rudder agent inventory) fix your issue ?
Sorry for not reporting back - upgrade to 5.0.6 fixed the problem.
- Status changed from Discussion to Resolved
Thanks for reporting, good to know!
