I hadn't realized that this wasn't already the case. It seems imperative to me that the author of actions be recorded in the git commits done "on-the-fly" (ideally in the archives too) for 2.4.0. If they are not, we lose the usefulness of the git log, which is our original reason for implementing this: to have one central log that records all changes (including shared-files).

For now, whether this is the actual author field of the git commit, or just a text comment, is not crucial (although it would be much nicer if it was the git committer...).
