User's home directory own by root
Added by Steeve Chailloux almost 10 years ago.
Updated almost 9 years ago.
Description
When creating a user using "User Management" technique, from:
Root of active techniques's library > System settings > User management > User management
the user's home directory is owned by root
OS: centos6.6 (fresh install)
kernel: grsecurity 2.6.32-504.el6.x86_64
User Management setting: http://i.imgur.com/u4sTjHc.png
Directive Priority: 10
"User Management" technique 3.0 works as expected
the bug is on version 5.0
The kernel is not a grsecurity one... as you can guess
- Category set to Techniques
- Priority changed from N/A to 3
- Target version set to 2.10.8
Hi Steeve! Thanks for this bug report. We will look into that this week.
Hello Steeve, I can't reproduce on centos 6.3 nor on 6.6, with both technique versions the home directory has the right owner.
Don't you have any specific right on your home ?
What is the result of getfacl /home ?

Rudder just uses "useradd" to create users, and therefore their home directories. It does not manipulate permissions on the home directories created, so this should not be a problem - unless of course there is something else configured to change this default behaviour on this system, in which case if we know what it is we could work around it.
I've tested this again just now, and can't reproduce the bug, so I'm closing this. Feel free to reopen the ticket if you disagree and still encounter this issue!
