Description

Hi,

are there some plans to add "systemd-logger" (journald) as supported system log service into the rudder-agent?

Best regards,
Alex

Hello Alex,

I think I don't understand you question very well. Are talking about a replacement for rsyslog? If so, I don't think journald is able to remote send logs, is it? If not, could you be more precise on the integration you are thinking to ?

Thanks,

Hi Francois,

I was thinking about "systemd-journal-upload" [1] to submit the logfiles to the master.

Best regards,
Alex

Oh, I wasn't aware of that part of systemd. Benoit, Alexis, what do you think?

I think that whatever next protocol we choose after syslog, we should not use one that is tied to the system.

Syslog is not really a logging system for Ruder, it is a protocol that has the advantage to be pre-installed on many systems. But the associated inconvenient is that we need to touch the system configuration to use it.
