Search Nodes: Search button grayed-out after search
Added by Dennis Cabooter over 10 years ago.
Updated almost 10 years ago.
Category:
Web - Nodes & inventories
Description
Scenario
- I'm searching for nodes matching the following criteria:
Match the criteria below with this operand: AND
Software Name = rudder-agent
Software Version Not matching regex 2.9.4.*
- I upgrade rudder-agent on a node and run "cf-agent -KI -D force_inventory" to update the inventory
- I want to search again to get an up to data search result
Problem
The search button is grayed-out, so it's impossible to perform the same search without re-doing the search criteria.
Work-around
Since the Rudder server was upgraded first and so rudder-agent, ticking or unticking "Include policy servers" makes the search button useable again.

Ha, this is indeed quite unfriendly.
Francois, I'm sure you have a solution for this (maybe detect when node changes?)
Well, I'm not sur it's a technical problem, and perhaps the real solution is to just let the user click as much as he wants on the button. Moreover, as depicted here, the workaround exists and so, we don't really gard people from doing that action.
So, I find more and more than we are going to far in the patronization of our user, and that the limits (like that one) we arbitrary impose bite them much more than they help.
So, perhaps we should allows any search, and allows "save" only if the nodelist changed.
