I'm changing this ticket to Technical review, since we have a fairly amount of work done on this, and we have a first version of the templates ready for 2.4.
For more improvements (i.e.: add more information to xml metadata to be displayed), a second ticket seems more appropriate.

That seems ok from a technical point of view, but the case for Directive modification is not usable at all - for two much stroke off text.
So I will really love to see #2782 corrected before 2.4.0 final.
