Actually, I disagree with this. Issue #4368 is not the same as this. Issue #4368 sets a default value for perms (mode 0640) so that by default permissions don't get set to none (mode 0000).

As I understand this issue would be resolved by adding an option to the Technique to preserve permissions as they are on the file system. Reopening.

Yvan, please let me know if I have misunderstood.

I'm going to keep this one and close #3365 as duplicate, as here, the needs for the use case are much clearer.

So, it seems that we could have a checkbox with "force permissions", and if uncheked keep the existing perms.

I even wonder if it's not a bug, because actually, we can't keep rights with the actual Technique.
