Bug #16240
closedReturning to technique editor almost always reports unsaved changes
Description
To reproduce
- Go to technique editor
- Create a technique
- Go to directives menu, instantiate it
- Go back to technique editor
Technique diverges
This Technique has been updated while you were away. Do you want to update it to the latest version, or keep your changes ?
If you decide to keep your changes and save it, your version will replace the current one. However you will still have the choice to update it before saving.
Keep changes / Update
Should not happen, and it's hard to tell which option does more damage.
In either case you end up in that last technique instead of the basic view with no technique selected.

I want to add that very often due to this behaviour I completely forget what i was going to do and then have to guess again the whole thing i wanted to build and how it should have looked. making many more errors than if i could just use the editor.

- Severity changed from Minor - inconvenience | misleading | easy workaround to Critical - prevents main use of Rudder | no workaround | data loss | security
- Priority changed from 50 to 94
Actually, it's very bad, because as it says that ALWAYS in 6.0, even on a fresh install when it's the first time you go to a rudder, or even if your changes were for an OTHER rudder, you can extremelly easely loose modification done by other.
The warning:
- must be local to only one rudder instance (extrem minimum: by hostname)
- it should not be for longer than the current user session (if user logout with unsaved changes, most likelly he didn't care for them).
